Lets keep the X in X-mas

That's not as blasphemous as it seems. Actually, the "X" goes back to the ancient Greek alphabet and the combined letters Chi (X) and Ro (p) into one symbol signifying Jesus. Anyway, 'tis the Christmas season which means that along with presents and inebriation, the TV schedule turns to reruns, and we turn to X-finity (ah, another "X) on Comcast. For $5.95 we get to choose some movies to watch instead of reruns or the annual Robe-10 Commandments-Miracle on 34th Street marathon that TV executives think we want to watch at this time of year.

Last night we selected "Midnight in Paris" in which Owen Wilson plays a Woody Allen character, who is a writer, in Paris...and goes back in time when he walks through the streets of Paris after midnight. Cleverly done and worth watching. As an aspiring author and established blogger, I was encouraged to re-enter the literary world by this movie. So, I guess the Christmas TV hiatus was not a total loss. I enjoy this lead actor more that he seems to enjoy himself. An additional treat is Carla Bruni playing a tourist guide in Paris. She is quite an eyeful, and compared to our first lady, looks good in anything, or nothing at all.

By all means, see this movie and the beautiful romantic picture it paints of Paris today and yesterday. Having been there s few times, it is a very special city once you get past the obnoxious locals. Bring extra cash if you go because everything costs about 3x what it does here. The movie however, is cheap.
